We are extremely excited to announce that we have been shortlisted by the UK Social Mobility Awards under the Small Business of the Year category! We are so proud of our team and can’t wait to see what the future holds for us in terms of our service, clients and stakeholders and the impact we will continue to make in the student social mobility space.
TG Consulting has diversity and student mobility at the core of its’ business. With access to university increasing for many, it’s important that society supports those who may be underrepresented in high education and not necessarily have that career knowledge, professional work experience or access to networks.
With many Widening Participation teams working on this, they can’t do it alone and must look to collaborate to gain a larger reach and make a true impact not only whilst students are at university but beyond.
Even though we are a small business, we are committed to supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds and providing a valuable offer, focusing on community engagement and helping to build confidence through opportunity and creating networks.
Our work centres around working in true partnership with graduate employers and tertiary education providers to break down barriers for students and create exclusive opportunities.
Our ethos is to create, connect and collaborate. We are agile, and the focus of the work we have undertaken with our clients has been very much around student engagement and in particular engaging with those who are disengaged or at risk of non-continuation.
Our impact has been around developing and reinventing strategies to; increase the number of students undertaking placement opportunities, working to increase participation in extracurricular activities and to build confidence amongst students.
TG Consulting’s Associate Consultant Mona Vadher says:
“We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist in the Small Business of the Year category for the UK Student Social Mobility Awards. These awards are a unique set of awards that have been specifically established to recognise and encourage action that will promote, advance and increase social mobility within the UK’s companies and institutions.
I am humbled by the work we do at TG Consulting; putting students at the core of our service. As a small business, we have worked really hard to develop a service we know will well equip students to think creatively about their career options, increase their confidence and open doors to some of the UK’s best companies.
Social mobility is about righting some of the societal wrongs and whilst university can reduce the attainment gap, it doesn’t necessarily close that employability skills gap, so we are proud to be recognised in supporting this agenda.
TG Consulting’s mission in this sphere is to increase the movement of the students we support, many of whom are from less-advantaged and low socio-economic backgrounds so they can progress in top graduate jobs, irrespective of their family background.”
